Those who knew Kay remember her for her friendly smile and caring soul. She had a deep passion for helping others and took every opportunity to do so throughout her life. One of her greatest impacts was through her love of nursing. Kay graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1979.  Throughout her career she worked in a variety of hospital settings along with home health and hospice. She was also a proud member of the Nebraska Nurse Honor Guard, which honors the everyday heroes who dedicate their lives to the nursing profession.

Beyond nursing, Kay deeply valued education. She believed strongly in the opportunities education provides and encouraged everyone she met to continue challenging themselves and pursuing growth. As a family, we felt there was no better way to honor Kay’s life and legacy than by creating the Kay Weaver Memorial Nursing Scholarship. This scholarship helps keep Kay’s memory alive while supporting those who choose to follow in her footsteps. We hope Kay’s caring spirit and dedication to helping others will continue to inspire future generations of nurses and caregivers.
